Smile For Real, or Fake It?

Research has found that even if you're not totally in the mood, by just going through the motions & putting on the hint of a half-hearted, even fake smile, the muscle contractions in your face stimulate neural messages & natural mood enhancers in your brain, so the health & happiness benefits continue…
So, the clear message is: 'Flash that Smile Across Your Dial', whether you mean it or not, even if you're not totally in the mood. Just by going through the motions and putting on a half-hearted, even forced smile, the muscle movements in your face activate neural messages and natural mood enhancers in your brain, so the health and happiness benefits are undeniable…
But of course, hopefully you do have real, genuine reasons to SMILE!… and SMILE BIG!!! … There you go, I dare you not to smile right now!
Lately, I’ve been discussing “Happiness” a lot with my Friend Alex, for many good reasons relating to a project we’ve been working on for the past month – and the amazingly powerful influence of Happiness, what creates it, and causes it to rise and subside…
So, it’s interesting to note that we are now one week into August, and today/tomorrow (depending on where you live) is 8/8/08 – the 8th day of the 8th month of 2008.
According to Chinese tradition, 8 is the symbol of Abundance (therefore it’s no coincidence the Olympics are opening in Beijing on 08-08-08). It’s also the sign for Infinity when you turn 8 on its side.
The number 8 is also especially meaningful to me because it has always been my special Happy, fortunate number, as it happens to be my birth date – 8 October.
So, my intention is to make the most of this significant time and attract and create much Happiness and Abundance during this month of August, and beyond.
So, I invite you to join me – no matter when you read this post, dedicate the month to creating Happy, Abundant, Positive experiences in your life.
Starting right now and continuing each day, I intend to “Be Happy”. I will wake up to each new day “being” Happy, and to making it a positive and productive day. I’ll focus on being Happy right throughout my day, and acknowledge and welcome the positive, and dis-empower the negative. I’ll go to bed each night and reflect Happily about the good things that happened, and smile forgivingly at the not so good.
And, I will avoid as many potential sources as possible of less than happy things.
Here are some more things you can do:
> Make a concerted solid commitment to “Be Happy” no matter what. It’s amazing how you can slide into the “feeling”, like stepping in and out of one dimension into another, if you make the decision and “choose” to do so.
So much of Happiness is attitude and perception. How you choose to view, interpret and react to something. Sometimes the smallest external triggers (yes OK, the big ones too) can be amazing catalysts to plunging you into the Happiness Mindset and Heartset.
And you’ll find that Happiness is cumulative – Happy thoughts create great “feelings”. The more you feel Happy, the more you’ll be able attract to you and create the positive experiences you desire in your life.
> Look around you and “Appreciate” and be “Grateful” for the Happy things already in your life. “Appreciation” is a higher vibration than “Gratitude”, but the two together are a mighty powerful combination…
> For the rest of the month, don’t read newspapers or watch TV news. Make it a bad news free zone. No politics. No fuel prices. No price increases. No housing crisis. No crime. No violent or depressing movies. Or any other draining, depressing, sapping influences.> Focus on pursuing Happy, positive and inspiring activities that uplift you and move you closer to achieving your Goals.
> Surround yourself with Happy positive “up” people that through your very interaction make you both feel even more optimistic and hopeful about what’s happening and to come.
> Read only Happy books, or research positive topics on the internet.
> Go and see a Happy uplifting inspirational movie with a Friend, and make it a really Happy occasion.
> Take a few days break and treat yourself to a short holiday, a long weekend getaway perhaps.
> Involve your friends, family or colleagues to join you and do the same …
